Noted Singer and Actor VirLinda Stanton Launches New Nonprofit
“OVERCOMERS FOR LIFE”
DALLAS, TX – Despite being one of Texas’ shining entertainment beacons for over four decades, life has not always been (to quote legendary poet Langston Hughes) a “crystal stair” for VirLinda Stanton.
After all her joys and pains, Stanton is turning the page on a new life chapter by founding a nonprofit targeting compassionate support for those facing terminal health diagnoses.

On February 7 – designated annually as National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Stanton will officially launch OVERCOMERS FOR LIFE, to provide invaluable emotional support, education, resources, inspiration, and encouragement for those facing the grief and trauma of a terminal health diagnoses or mental health crisis. Stanton, an outspoken advocate for HIV/AIDS ever since her own diagnosis 30 years ago, bravely looks to be the new face of HIV/AIDS for anyone in need, but specifically for women of color.
“Our vision is to be a lifeline that connects people with health care professionals – doctors, counselors, educators, HIV community support – in addition to a vast network of social and educational resources,” said Stanton. “We want to impact, influence, and inspire people to embrace a mind-shift and new perspective on how to live a fulfilling, happy life –
Despite a life-threatening diagnosis!”
OVERCOMERS FOR LIFE will expound on the same values and principles Stanton practiced when she was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in 1994. “Living 29 years with HIV/AIDS isn’t easy,” she says. “When I was first informed, I didn’t want to believe it or receive it! I had to believe in my faith, stand on God's word and His healing power. What I thought would kill me only made me want to fight harder to live.” Almost three decades later, VirLinda has defied the gloom-and-doom predictions and remarkably hammered her way to a successful career in theater, music, television, and film.
Stanton will be announcing the new programs and campaigns throughout 2023 to amplify the mission and message of OVERCOMERS FOR LIFE. As VirLinda says, “The BEST is yet to come!”
